The annual TVRA East Boys Captains/Veterans basketball games were played on Thursday, March 28th in front of an enthusiastic crowd at WCI’s “Devil Dome”. The team’s were divided up based on their final standings in each respective division (junior and senior). This year the game raised over $750 for the Terry Fox Foundation in memory of Bill Gillespie (founder of the game).
Junior game: In an unbelievable game with many lead changes, Team Red narrowly defeated Team Black 86-84. Deep shooting and excellent ball movement highlighted this spirited affair. Eventual MVP, Preston Hilderley blocked a buzzer beater three-ball attempt by Team Black with time expiring to seal the win.

Senior Game: Team Black defeated Team Red 104-94 in a strongly contested battle. Many fast break slams, contested dunks, and deep three balls highlighted this spirited affair! Highlight of the game was an “And-1” dunk in the lane by Aaron Owusu from St. Mary’s. Mr. Basketball for the Southeast, Enoch Tsekpo, completed the trifecta taking home the aforementioned Mr. Basketball, winning Team Black MVP and the Slam Dunk competition during halftime.
