When you think of an athlete that has had a stellar year, you think about someone that has worked hard and that hard work has paid off. Let me introduce you to Laurier senior student, Matt Mason. Matt is a grade 12 student that competes on the cross country, swim, hockey and track teams. This year’s cross country season has proven to be his best yet!
Matt competed in 7 cross country meets this past season and won them all. Dominating in both the TVRA and WOSSAA championships, Matt won both of these races by 48 and 34 seconds respectively. Heading to the OFSAA Championships in Sudbury, Matt knew that it was going to be a challenge with the weather and the architecture of the course. But he prevailed despite the frigid temperatures and wet, snowy terrain and narrowly won by 3 seconds!
Some other accomplishments Matt has earned include coming 2nd in the U20 AO Cross Country Championship and being the MVP of the cross country team for the last 3 years. TVRA looks forward to following Matt’s success next year when he competes for Boston University. Congratulations Matt on all of your success and we wish you all the best in the coming years!
