At the London Sports Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies, Richard Mommersteeg, a long time coach and educator at St. Joes High School was presented with the Spirit of Sport, Secondary Schools coach of the year award. Mommersteeg has taught Math and Physical Education for 31 years and has served as the schools Athletic Director and Physical Education Department Head for the past 20 years. He has also coached basketball, soccer, volleyball, hockey and golf. His teams have competed in 18 different OFSAA championships, winning three gold, three silver and four bronze medals in boys’ basketball and girls’ soccer.
