The OFSAA Leadership in School Sport Award is presented annually at each OFSAA championship to a current teacher with at least 10 years experience, who has demonstrated leadership in the school sport program and especially in the sport for which the individual is nominated. The award acknowledges all the ‘behind the scenes’ work and effort by teachers who coordinate programs, coach, officiate, serve on committees, run clinics or convene, in an effort to make teams, leagues and school programs function effectively and efficiently. The recipient of this award exemplifies the values of fair play and good sportsmanship, while promoting enjoyment, personal growth and educational achievement through school sport.
This year’s recipient, Tim Clayton has contributed hours upon hours upon hours to high school sport programs to provide students an opportunity to learn and develop as athletes and as young men and women. An educator for 29 years, Tim has been coaching just as long; Hockey, Football, Golf, Soccer, Badminton and Skiing. He serves as the WOSSAA director and regional representative at OFSAA, he is the OFSAA SAC chair for hockey and sits on the OFSAA Advocacy and Championship Review committees. Currently the assistant physical education department head at Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School Tim is the senior convenor for the London District Catholic School Board. Tim has a passion for sport, but even greater than that is his desire to promote lifelong learning and teamwork among the students he interacts with every day.
