2023/24 SPECTRA Award Winners

On June 3rd, the SPECTRA Awards evening at SAB celebrated the exceptional achievements of one male and one female nominee from each of the 39 high schools within the TVRA. These students exemplify the pinnacle of athletic prowess, academic excellence, and dedicated volunteerism, setting a standard of excellence in their communities.

2023/24 SPECTRA Award Winners

Saunders Secondary School: Becca Gutteridge

Becca Gutteridge has distinguished herself as an exceptional student-athlete at Saunders Secondary School. Her achievements include placing 5th nationally and at OFSAA in wrestling, being recognized as a three-sport MVP, and earning the title of top grade-level athlete. Becca’s dedication to both academics and athletics has earned her an academic and athletic scholarship to Algoma University, where she maintained an impressive 93% average.

Beyond her personal achievements, Becca has made significant contributions to the community by working with children with various disabilities. Her efforts have positively impacted their lives, showcasing her commitment to making a difference both on and off the field.

Oakridge Secondary School: Koen Jajal

Koen Jajal of Oakridge Secondary School is the proud recipient of the TVRA Greg Anderson Award. Known for his leadership and athletic prowess, Koen served as a three-time football captain and participated as a three-sport athlete throughout his high school career. His academic excellence is reflected in his 94% average, and he is set to pursue an engineering degree at either Western University or the University of Waterloo.

Koen’s contributions extend far beyond the classroom and sports field. He has amassed over 475 community volunteer hours, focusing on development education, student mentorship, LMFA community coaching, and tutoring his peers. His dedication to volunteerism and leadership exemplifies the spirit of the SPECTRA Awards.
