SPECTRA nominees to be honoured at London Sports Celebrity Dinner and Auction

One female and male graduating student athlete from each TVRA school in London and Middlesex County have been nominated by their schools as their SPECTRA representative. SPECTRA is an acronym for Sportsmanship, Participation, Excellence, Character, Teamwork, Respect and Achievement. Nominees will be introduced at the London Sports Celebrity Dinner and Auction on Monday, February 13 at the Metroland Media Agriplex at the Western Fair District. One male and female student athlete will also be presented as the winner of the Alex Kelman SPECTRA Award. The TVRA Ms Basketball Award was presented for the first time in Girls Basketball this year. Congratulations to all of our nominees. Winners are: Kendra Horlick (EESS), Kendra Malcolmson (MTS), Claire Litchfield (Lucas) and Katie Beaudry (LDSS)

TVRA All Star Boys Volleyball a huge success

TVRA and all of those associated with Boys’ Volleyball  would like to thank Frank Delle Donne of SJSS for organizing and RMC  for hosting the amazing all star game last week.  Once again he has put together a showcase of our top volleyball athletes for everyone to enjoy.  The  Mr. Volleyball awards were also presented to Gradon Fuller – STA, Elliott Leslie – Saunders and Clayton Stark – PCI

It is also awesome that Paul Duerden and Steve Brinkman continue to coach during this event.

This game certainly capped a very exciting season of Boys Volleyball.

TVRA All Star Games to wrap up Fall Athletic Season

The TVRA Boys’ All Star Volleyball game will be held on Wednesday, November 30 at RMC.

And will showcase players from all three TVRA conferences. The TVRA Al Coulter/Mr. Volleyball awards will be presented as well

The TVRA Girls’ Jr/Sr All Star Basketball games will be held on Tuesday, December 6 at Saunders S.S. Admission is by donation with proceeds going to Leslie Petter scholarship fund.

Junior 6:30  Senior 8:00. The purpose of this event is to showcase TVRA’s best in a fun game as well as awarding the Fran Wigston winner for TVDSB Central and LDA. In addition, this year we will also be presenting the Ms. Basketball award for TVDSB Central, LDA and South/East.

The fall athletic season comes to a close at OFSAA events this week. TVRA teams have had some outstanding results and have represented our association very well.

TVDSB South East Championships close out an exciting season

The 2016 fall season came to a close with the Girls Basketball and Boys Volleyball championships over the past week. This fall saw an expansion to an A Championship in addition to the traditional South East playoff format.

The Jr Girls South East Champion in Basketball is East Elgin who defeated WCI 33-24 in the final.

LDA and TVDSB Central Basketball Championships

Fanshawe College was the host venue for some exciting Girls’ Basketball championships as both the LDA and TVDSB Central league play determined champions. TVRA would like to thank Fanshawe for providing this opportunity for our athletes. The players and fans enjoyed this experience.

In LDA Sr Girls action, MTS defeated STA 42 – 36. The Spartans now advance to WOSSAA.

LDA and TVDSB Central Volleyball Championships held at Fanshawe College

TVRA would like to thank Fanshawe College for hosting the LDA and TVDSB conference Boys Volleyball Championships this year. Long Time SDCI coach named “Coach of the Year – Secondary”

Donna Perrie, a teacher and coach at Strathroy District Collegiate Institute, was presented with the Spirit of Sport – London Sports Council Secondary Coach of the year at the annual London Hall of Fame awards reception. Donna has become a part of the school’s fabric as a coach in the girls’ soccer and basketball programs for the past 25 years. She has also served as the coach of the swim team, serves as the staff advisor for the student athletic association and co-shares the athletic director position at SDCI.
