2021 Spectra Award Winners

Despite missing out in their final year of athletics in high school, both of the Spectra award winners this year were exceptional role models for their schools and within their communities over the last 4 years.

Dominating in cross country, track and field, and wrestling, Jalen Marcil from London Central Secondary School is the 2021 Spectra Award winner.  Described by her coaches as one of the hardest working and positive athletes, Jalen won the athlete of the year award every single year in high school.  Not only is Jalen gifted athletically, but she also boasted an academic average in the mid 90’s.  Jalen was also a big advocate for her community volunteering for the Forest City Road Races, track meets, food banks, and leading fundraisers for brain cancer.

TVRA is very proud of Jalen and all of the success she has had these last 4 years.  Good luck next year at Portland State University.  We know you will represent TVRA well!

An all-around athlete in basketball, volleyball, track and field, golf, and ultimate frisbee, Coby Harvey from H.B. Beal Secondary School is the 2021 Spectra Award winner.  As the team captain for multiple sports in multiple years, there is no question of Coby’s leadership both inside and outside the classroom.  Leading the DECA club at Beal, Coby does not hesitate to jump in and lead through example.  With an average of 99%, Coby is described by his teachers as “dedicated, hard-working, and kind.”  Coby also dedicated countless volunteer hours as a math and physics tutor, volunteering at the London Food Bank, coordinating basketball and volleyball practices and tournaments, and being the organizer of a city-wide scavenger hunt for incoming students to Beal.
